In our presentation, we will mainly focus on the first reading by Mark Poster’s “The Good, the Bad, and the Virtual”. The reading is about the ethics in the age of information, especially discussing about the good or bad and evil or virtuous in the internet space. However, it is now complicated to distinguish that because the media boundaries are so blur. We will question about the ethical aspects, do we need to create a new rules or orders to deal with the ethical problems in the mediated world?
The reading is separated into three parts: ethics as a problem, anonymity of identity and overload and censorship. Through them, we know more about the ethical aspects of the media, there are problems brought out not just in the “composed” world (the media), but now becoming a “real” world problems as media is so close to us.

In our group presentation, we have pointed out that we are now living in the age of information, and we succeed to bring out that it is hard to define what is good or bad in ethics due to the different culture, gender, historical background and classes. We agreed that culture construct ethics. Through the discussion, we have showed the class a few links to discuss about the ethical problems.

We used the above site to talk about the censorship problem in internet. Although it showed the warning in the top of the page, but it does not block anybody visiting the site.

We used the above page to discuss the problem of ethics. That was some pictures taken without the lady’s permission. Most of us think that the above act was bad and illegal.
We came out without conclusion if the above pictures or similar pictures were taken with permission or willingly by the girls/men. The point we finalized was the blurring of ethics nowadays.
